Jane Roe's testimony

Not since the conversion of the son of atheist Madelyn Murray O'Hare has the country witnessed such a radical change for Christ as that of Norma McCorvey. You will know her better as Jane Roe of the Roe versus Wade decision which the Supreme Court issued exactly 25 years ago in 1973.

Baptized on August 8, 1995, McCorvey is now telling her story in the new Won by Love. What led to her radical change? First there was the drive-by shooting of McCorvey's home in 1989, just prior to her going to Washington in April to participate in the pro-abortion march. In spite of having recently gone public, the feminists did not welcome her.

Then there were the grotesque operations in the clinic, the piles of dead human babies, and the behavior of the abortionist doctor in charge. If McCorvey is describing this situation accurately, you will be shocked.

McCorvey, in charge of soliciting business for the clinic, was incensed at the doctor's greed and began turning away "customers."

Finally, there was the Christian testimony of those who worked in a pro-life center (Operation Rescue) that moved next door to the abortion clinic. Operation Rescue's spunky director always had a friendly greeting for Norma. Rhonda, a counselor, and her daughter Emily become McCorvey's good friends, and she began going to church with them. It may be Emily's free-flowing love and testimony that were most important in McCorvey's conversion. This child made her "ache for what I had done."

The book makes a powerful impact, in spite of not being written very well, and you may still have questions about McCorvey since background information for many events and relationships is missing. But you will join her friends who praise God that she has come this far.
