In his latest book, A New Time and Place, author Jack Hayford examines the Old Testament Book of Ruth, and draws timeless lessons that ring true for every reader who has ever wandered lost and alone, seeking provision and redemption from a mighty God.
This is a portrait of believers, Hayford says, who rely on their own human logic rather than ask the Holy Spirit for direction and counsel in their personal dry times. While our hungers today may be more complex, Hayford shows that the source of their fulfillment remains the same down through the ages -- the provision of our mighty God.
A New Time and Place journeys through the four brief chapters of Ruth and opens up spiritual revelation that is surprisingly relevant to modern Christians. In Ruth we see unyielding commitment based in selflessness and obedience, a commitment that God honored in Ruth's life and in the life of her great-grandson, Israel's mighty king, David.
And as He did with Ruth, God will bring together the people and circumstances to fill our joy to overflowing, to give us "new vistas of life and possibility" that we would not have even dreamed.
In addition to writing numerous books, Hayford, senior pastor of The Church on the Way in Van Nuys, California, is the author of many songs and hymns, including "Majesty."
