"No greater compliment could be paid to us, and I want to give all the praise and glory to our Lord and God," writes Hartman.
As you read his 52 devotional thoughts in this new book, you feel confident that he has. Each meditation is captioned with one of Petra's hit song titles, and the lyrics for that song are printed in smaller type on the same page. Beneath the title is the verse of Scripture that spoke to Hartman as he wrote the devotion and in many cases the song lyrics. In the devotions, Hartman shares his own walk with the Lord and the stories behind 52 of Petra's best-loved songs. His wonderful tone of humility blended with confidence in what the Lord can do through him truly calls readers to a deeper walk with God.
More Power to Ya, the title of the book, also happens to be the seventh selection in the spiral-bound book, as well as the title of Petra's 1982 hit. Hartman recalls recording the song in a studio in the West Texas desert as one of his most memorable experiences with Petra. From the unique "vibe" of that night, he learned that our time of greatest weakness often follows immediately after our time of greatest strength, and God uses that time of weakness to show us our need for Him. "The sooner we learn and practice this principle, the sooner we will feel His strength again."
With More Power to Ya, Hartman makes clear why Petra has become the standard for other Christian groups. The book appeals to both older readers who have listened to Petra for a quarter century and to younger readers who are just being introduced to Petra and the love for the Lord they sing about.
