Each of the meditations is brief, as the broadcasts from which they were taken lasted only a minute and a half each. They read as though you were having a conversation with Dr. Dobson and he is simply answering your question on a particular point and sharing solutions in his no-nonsense manner.
After reading the pieces, readers will be aware that Dr. Dobson holds the same long-term view of the family as the Bible, although he does not quote from the Bible in every commentary.
Sometimes you may be caught offguard by what Dr. Dobson has to say. When he advises couples to be careful how much they reveal to one another, he is not downgrading communication or advocating deception; he simply says that love must be your guide in what you say to your spouse. When a young adult child is reluctant to leave the comfortable nest, Dr. Dobson says it may be time to help him or her pack and move!
The meditations in Home with a Heart are not for the softhearted, but they remind readers that marriage and family are the biggest jobs most of us have in this life, and the rewards for doing the job right are the greatest.
