Hagee, pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, feels a new urgency because of the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin last November 4th, but Hagee's personal awareness of political life in Israel goes back much further. He had been befriended by Rabin several years earlier at an Israel Bonds dinner in Houston. Now Hagee believes that "the blood of this Nobel Peace Prize winner will become the force to drive the nation of Israel and other leaders of the Middle East" to secure a legacy of peace.
Hagee describes Israel as a two--headed Janus, one head belonging to religious Jews who believe Israel has a divine mandate to possess the land and the other belonging to nonreligious Jews who believe political solutions come through the peace process. This division will be used by the Antichrist.
Hagee moves from the specific current situation to a clear explanation of the way Moses and David profiled the Messiah and how all these prophecies are fulfilled by Jesus Christ. This is the heart of the book and basis of later chapters on the rapture, the Antichrist and his goals in the tribulation, and the vindication in the Battle of Armageddon.
One truth above all Hagee begs his readers to remember: "We are the terminal generation." The Beginning of the End has meaning for all Christians: Our redemption is drawing near.
