The video opens with Larry the Cucumber masquerading as the super-hero "Larry Boy," believing that it's the only way to convince people he's special. His suction-cup ears catch on to everything he touches, including Bob the Tomato, before a letter from a young girl prompts Bob to tell the story of Dave and the Giant Pickle (David and Goliath).
The trials and tribulations of young David (played by Jr. Asparagus) are obvious when he must pick up the sheep for his brothers and then stay at home as they go off to fight the Philistines. "Why Can't Little Boys Do Big Things?" he sings.
Just after Goliath (a truly giant cucumber!) appears before King Saul and the Israelite veggies, the story is interrupted by a "Silly Songs with Larry" segment. This may be confusing to young watchers since it shows Larry talking to a psychiatrist about his identity.
But video action soon returns to the biblical story and faith is reinforced with Dave's upbeat song, "He's Big, but God's Bigger." You know the rest but you won't be able to turn it off. The reassuring point is made-with God's help, even little guys can do big things.
It's no secret why all five episodes of the VeggieTales are on the Bestselling Videos Chart for the Christian market. They're super!
