Restoration... should be done with humility and love. No one has the right to stand in self-righteous judgment of another, because we are all subject to stumbling. As part of restoring another you have a call to self-examination.
Hell... is a reality because of an incompatibility problem: Holy God and unholy humankind are incompatible.
Millenium theology... reveals our considerable differences in opinion, but whatever happens will be in God's time and under His control.
Childish things... affect our love life. Much of the mental and emotional programming we learned as children was faulty, yet we cling to it. because it continues to influence [us] now, we need to get a handle on what needs to be discarded and what should be kept.
The First Dysfuntional Family... was Adam and Eve. But the last family--the Father and the Son fixing up our home--will be whole. I can hardly wait.
Contented people... know that the only ones they are responsible for changing are themselves. Discontent is usually expressed by attempting to change others.
Endurance... involves encouragement from others, laying aside hindrances, and keeping your eyes on Jesus.
Worry... can be conquered by prayer. You will gain the peace and perspective to handle stress without sacrificing your health abd relationships.
Fasting... can prepareus for God's call, cleanse and equip us for the battle. It is not meant to persuade God to change His mind, to make us more acceptable to God, or to lose weight.
Waiting on God... I have learned that the longer He takes to give direction, the more He has to teach me.
One of America's most respected Bible teachers has compiled a handbook of spiritual principles learned and applied in his 30 years as a pastor. Dr. Charles Stanley, senior pastor of the 13,500 member First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, has taught scripture through his international TV and radio program, "In Touch"; as the twice-elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention; and as one of the most widely-read Christian authors of this generation.
The Glorious Journey: Insight, Encouragement, and Guidance for Your Walk of Faith is rich in Dr. Stanley's counsel. The 528-page book has sections on every aspect of Christianity: church concerns, daily living, doctrine, end times, personal growth, relationships, service and outreach, and spiritual disciplines. Topics range from eberyday dilemmas such as handling stress and pressures on-the-job to developing long range goals for building character. End time concerns such as the Millennium and the Rapture are also addressed.
Dr. Stanley says he's written the book for Christians at every stage of their personal journey: those who are exhausted and spent; those who have recently experienced significant growth; or those who have settled on a comfortable plateau because of an uncertain future. The author's introduction makes a promise to each traveler: "God wants you to enjoy and complete your journey. He has pledged Himself to finish the good work He began at salvation and will keep you strong until the end."
