In Promises, Promises twelve wives of keynote speakers at Promise Keeper events give us the feminine perspective on topics, most of them related to the marriage relationship, emphasized by the Promise Keeper movement.

These women have last names readers will recognize-Trent, Boone, Hendricks, Evans, Smalley, Bright, etc. They also have credentials that give their counsel added impact. Vonette Bright was 1995 Christian Woman of the Year, in addition to being co-founder of Campus Crusade for Christ. Norma Smalley is the chief administrator at Today's Family. Darlene Wilkinson is Prayer Coordinator in her husband Bruce's Walk Thru the Bible Ministries.

However, they are very clear about their role in marriage. It is to be as God planned-a helper, as the subtitle of this book makes clear, Understanding & Encouraging Your Husband. Wilkinson lays out seven affirmations for women fulfilling this role. If any woman is ever tempted to feel superior over the struggles men have with the Promise Keeper promises, she should dwell on these affirmations for a while! Norma Smalley recognizes basic gender differences and gives readers seven ways to help men keep their promises.

In addition to inspiration and self-examination, this book offers counsel for dealing with broken promises.
