Boxed and with a bright padded cover, the baby book includes many of the poems and illustrations Boone and Ferrer created for their children's book Welcome to this World. The Baby Book provides space for a family tree, baby shower gifts, special messages from Mom and Dad, a growth chart, religious celebrations, and more of the memories from the first five years. There are marked places for photos on many pages.
To match his illustrations, Ferrer also created new full-color borders-all designed to interest a child, using such objects as toothbrushes, crayons, blocks, balloons, etc. Boone's lighthearted poems are appropriately placed. On the preschool pages, we find her encouraging children to sing with these lines that introduce a longer poem:
We all know that mothers are the ones who usually do the recording, clipping, writing, photographing, and saving that go into a book of memories about the earliest years of life. They give their children this picture of themselves before they could remember. Isn't it appropriate that in the process mothers are encouraged to return to childhood?
