Sarah Reid Chisholm and Michelle Neavill have teamed up to create an Easter book that introduces young children (ages 3-8) to the true meaning of why we observe this holy day; yet words and pictures stay clearly in today's culture. In An Easter Hunt, "Mom hid different things that would teach us something about Jesus' last days on earth."
The brightly colored pages of this book engage young readers in a hunt through house and yard--both a little cluttered to make hunting more fun. They look for such things as a wooden donkey, a shoe, perfume, olives, a sack of coins, a rooster, a cross, and a small empty tomb. As each is found, the young boy in the story tells its significance in the events of Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. A short related Bible verse is given for each episode.
Chisholm, the mother of two daughters, is the author of many articles and books for children. She and Michelle Neavill have worked together on previous children's books to bring this same spirit of liveliness and proper respect for important things about the faith.
Don't wait for Easter to buy this book. Its value starts about three weeks before and continues for eternity.
